BLRPC Receives EDA Grant for COVID-19 Recovery Assistance

August 6, 2020
The Bay-Lake Regional Planning Commission recently received an EDA CARES Act Recovery Assistance grant that will be used over the next two years to assist communities and businesses within the region that have experienced economic injury due to COVID-19. To address coronavirus recovery, BLRPC will conduct outreach activities, provide technical assistance, and develop a number of recovery plans for businesses and/or municipalities throughout the region. Please contact Sydney Swan for more information.

2019 Invasive Species Treatment Starting up in Kewaunee County

Phragmites and Japanese knotweed treatment is beginning for the 2019 treatment season. You can expect to see Wildlife and Wetland Solutions (WWS) treating the invasive species throughout Kewaunee County between the dates of 9/9/19 - 9/15/19. Bay-Lake RPC has just finalized two new plans that have been in the works throughout the past year! The Lakeshore Coastal Recreation Study and the Ahnapee River Water Trail Plan were both funded by the Wisconsin Coastal Management Program. This month we welcomed Harry Graham as the newest planner to the Bay-Lake RPC team. Harry recently completed his Masters in Community Planning from Auburn University in Alabama. He has also completed a Masters in Anthropology and gained experience as a planning intern with the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham.

This month we welcomed Sydney Swan as the newest planner to the Bay-Lake RPC team. Sydney is a 2016 graduate of UWSP with a double major in Urban Planning and Regional Land Use Planning. Before joining the Commission, she worked with Washington County as a Planning and Parks Analyst.

Community Partnership Award

Interns have always been a vital part of the Commission and the work accomplished here. This month, Bay-Lake RPC was the recipient of the UWGB Public & Environmental Affairs (PEA) 2019 Community Partnership Award. This award recognized an organization in the community that has shown continuous dedication to the growth and development of the department's students. As a Commission, we are honored to have received this award, and look forward to coninuing this partnership for years to come!
