Transportation Alternatives

Transportation Alternatives (TA) is a federal program set aside of the Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) Program under Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act). TA provides funding to projects considered “alternatives” to traditional highway construction. TA projects and activities include smaller-scale transportation projects such as pedestrian and bicycle facilities, recreational trails, safe routes to school projects, community improvements such as historic preservation and vegetation management, and environmental mitigation related to stormwater and habitat connectivity.
